The massive inventory / storage / cube spaces are actually part of the Eastern Sun mod, which makes the entire game quite a bit more difficult, but also a lot more interesting.

Morrowind had an awesome inventory system.

There was no limit. If your character had enough Strength to carry a given amount of weight - you could carry it.
